Working through this song, I found it really easy to work through the melody and chords for this. The hardest part of this whole song was getting used to the time signature. With the song traditionally being in 3, this arrangement in 4 messed with my head a little. Interpreting the melody was fun because it was a song I’ve known for a long time and it was very easy to mess around with.

 

The melodic manipulation took some time so I could work out the kinks. It started with a lot of notes that were just in a chord, eventually I put it into a more strategic line. The chords are fun for this and make it fun to mess around in. I did not struggle after getting the line where I wanted it. I am not a jazz musician by trade, I’ve played a lot of Black Gospel which has a lot of jazz influence and that makes this not so difficult.
